The whole process starts at the base of the Cascade Mountains in south central Washington. Here we find Ponderosa Pine trees that are indigenous to the Pacific Northwest that have been standing dead for approximately three years. The standing time is what produces a unique bluing of the wood. This is where the term "Blue Pine" comes from. We then take these hand picked logs to local mills and have then cut to the correct length and thickness of the furniture we our planning to create. After the blue pine has been milled, the planks are then brought to the Nature's Pine Workshop for curing. Here they sit until the we deem the wood is dry enough to move on to the next step. Kurt, our master craftsman then hand picks each board for every piece of furniture that is to be made. Selecting the correct boards for each piece is one of the most important steps in the process. Not only do the boards have to be the correct length, width, and thickness to conform to the customers needs, they also have to be sturdy and look good together. We invite you to come visit us, take a walk though our showroom and meet Kurt who will be creating your next piece of furniture from start to finish. |
